There are numerous volcanoes in Nicaragua for you and your family to explore. The truly athletic family can spend the day hiking up Volcan Concepcion on the island of Ometepe. This 9-11 hour, round-trip, hike will take you up 1610 meters to the volcano’s crater. Your reward for reaching the top will be a beautiful view of the Nicaraguan countryside, Lake Nicaragua, as well as the Pacific Ocean.

If a full day of hiking sounds like too much work, you can opt for a scenic drive up to the top of Volcan Mombacho. Once at the top, you have a variety of hiking options. There are four craters at the top of Mombacho, and each can easily be reached on foot. During your hike to these craters you can expect to see both howler, and white faced, monkeys, deer, sloths and numerous species of birds.

Spend the day relaxing at the beach.
